Local Partnerships

The state of Florida established Tobacco-Free Community Partnerships in each of the 67 counties in Florida. The partnerships and their members are involved with assessing community needs, determining strategies to implement activities that focus on the overall vision that Florida's youth live tobacco free.

Tobacco-Free Community Partnerships reflect the make-up of their unique communities. Members include youth leaders, business owners, school professionals, health care providers, voluntary health representatives, clerics from the faith community and other interested community members.

Each partnership meets at least quarterly, has elected officers and consists of at least 25% youth ages 11-17. Youth, including college students, play a key role in the grassroots advocacy efforts of local partnerships. Partnerships and their member advocates represent the most effective means to focus their collective energies to influence social and environmental change.
